The Past
I led an early stage investment fund/incubator called WashingtonVC, where we invested in and built companies in media, consumer Internet, telecom and the domain name space. Some of our companies included Phone.com, Yield Software, and Domain Market.
Previously, I was CEO of Viaduct Technologies, an Internet professional services agency with deep connections in the emerging technology space. We served as the outsourced CTO and product development team for a number of the more interesting, pre-bubble startups, and provided ongoing strategy consulting and customer engagement for some of the world’s largest tech and consumer brands.
I was also one of the four founders of Proxicom, one of the leading, first-generation Internet professional services agencies. Proxicom went public on NASDAQ in 1998 and was sold to the global consultancy Dimension Data in a bidding war against Compaq prior to their merger with Hewlett-Packard.
Earlier still, I served as a Senior Systems Engineer at a government contractor in Washington, DC called Digicon, where I built secure, distributed networks and applications for the US Dept. of Defense.
In college, I worked in pre-sales support/engineering at NeXT Computer, Steve Jobs’ company between his stints at Apple. Steve had, without exception, assembled the brightest, most driven group of people I’ve ever encountered at NeXT, whose members have gone on to lead the most successful of today’s tech companies. It’s a close-knit community that to this day still keeps in regular contact.
Random Bits
And as far back as I have cognizant memory, I’ve been a hacker (in the positive sense), an entrepreneur, and a strong support system for the people and customers in my life. In the mid-1970’s, as a tyke, I played with minis and mainframes at CalTech and MIT via teletype with an acoustic coupler modem. In high school I wrote custom IVR applications for Octel and DIAL voice mail systems while running tech support for the largest Apple distributor/dealer in the Caribbean. I helped a good friend of mine build an ISP in the early 90’s from the ground up – technology, operations, partnerships, etc. – which within a few years we sold for $100m in cash, and I’ve sat comfortably on both sides of the table in venture capital deals. I live for this stuff.
Some big statements people have made about me over the years:
Greetings. I'm Eric Litman, I'm an Internet entrepreneur, investor and executive, and I run a mobile ad and analytics company called
